Center for American Indian & Indigenous Studies (CAIIS) Travel and Research Grant

The Center for American Indian and Indigenous Studies (CAIIS) is a newly formed research center supported by multiple UW colleges and schools. The center aims to support research in American Indian and Indigenous Studies across the three UW campuses, as well as with surrounding Native communities.

Our Center’s first goal is to support faculty, staff, and students through travel and research grant funding. The grant instructions for 2019 are attached. The priority deadline for this grant is April 15, 2019 (midnight, PST). If you have any questions about the center, our goals, or would like to get involved please email caiis@uw.edu.

TRAVEL & RESEARCH GRANT INSTRUCTIONS 2019

Purpose: CAIIS awards small grants to help offset costs associated with conference, research, and community outreach travel. The Summer Travel & Research Grant will cover costs for Conference Registration, Air and/or Ground Travel, and Lodging, so long as the full purchase has been made and submitted to CAIIS by June 15, 2019. Financial or procedural assistance for securing official travel documentation (e.g passports, visas) is not covered. Awards will be paid as reimbursements by US check or direct deposit.

Eligibility: Any faculty, staff, graduate student or tribal research partner in good standing may apply for this travel award. Travel must be associated with the applicant’s work in American Indian and Indigenous Studies.

Submission: Please complete the application form and email the application as one single PDF to caiis@uw.edu.

Priority Funding Deadline: April 15, 2019 (midnight, PST), applications received after this date will only be awarded if there is funding remaining.

Final Deadline: Applications must be received no later than May 15, 2019 (midnight, PST)
