Travel & Research Grant Open!

The Center for American Indian and Indigenous Studies (CAIIS) aims to promote knowledge production and sharing in American Indian and Indigenous Studies across the three UW campuses, as well as with surrounding Native and Indigenous communities. CAIIS awards small grants (up to $2,000) to help offset costs associated with conference, research, networking, and community outreach travel. Building on our traditional ways of gathering, story telling, and relationship building as meaningful opportunities, we invite faculty, staff, community research partners, and students at all levels to apply for these funds. Whether you’re visiting with elders, participating in cultural activities, or attending a conference, having a well-established community is important to your success at the University and beyond.

The CAIIS Travel and Research Grant instructions and applications for 2019-2020 can be found at this website: https://tinyurl.com/travel-research-grant

The priority deadline for this grant is October 25, 2019 (midnight, PST), but if funds are available, applications will be accepted until May 15th, 2020. We would encourage you to apply early to ensure availability. You do not need to have a paper accepted to apply for conference travel funds.

If you have any questions about the Center, our goals, or would like to find out about more funding opportunities, email caiis@uw.edu
